Full-back James Morris was delighted to earn an important 3-2 victory against a tough West Bromwich Albion side at Vicarage Road.

The 21-year-old was brought into the XI following an injury to Hassane Kamara, and contributed to a dynamic attack throughout the game as he looked to provide support to Ismaïla Sarr and Ken Sema – both of whom got on the scoresheet.

Morris acknowledged the significance of the result against the Baggies and is hoping to carry the momentum into a crucial part of the campaign.

“It’s a massive three points,” he began. “Over the last few games, we have been in great positions and then it’s been the last bit we have been missing.

“We haven’t lost in those games, but to get the three points today was massive, especially to gain momentum now. I think that’s four unbeaten now and with 13 games left of the season, we just have to keep building on this and keep winning.

“It was massive to get a quick start to get the fans behind us. I thought they were brilliant today and if you start quick you put them on the back foot and it was great to start the game how we wanted. It was very important for us.”

Speaking about the advice offered pre-match by Head Coach Slaven Bilić, Morris took his instructions onboard and felt it helped combat the away side’s second-half resurgence.

Morris continued: “Slaven just asked me to be comfortable, he was very good to me and gave me a lot of confidence. He asked me to play my game which is what I thought I did.

“It was disappointing to concede, but I think the character we showed to get back into the game and win was a massive plus. Everyone stuck together and we got the three points which was brilliant.”

The left-back paid tribute to the Watford faithful for their unwavering support during testing moments in the game.

He added: “It was brilliant [to play in front of the supporters]. The fans are always behind us and it was a great atmosphere, especially at the end when we were clinging on trying to get those three points – it gives us that extra push we needed.

“Every game is a big game in this league. We go to Sheffield United now and try to get another big three points to keep the momentum going.”
