Ken Sema spoke of his delight after etching his name on the scoresheet twice with an impressive double - and ultimately the winner - during Watford’s 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the Sky Bet Championship.

Under the lights at The Vic, the Swedish winger got Watford off to the perfect start by firing the opener into the roof of the net midway through the first half, before notching the final goal of the evening with an important strike that deflected off Erik Pieters and past Baggies shot-stopper Josh Griffiths.

The Sweden international, who has recently returned to the squad following injury, was delighted to make the difference in front of an adoring home crowd.

Sema began: “It’s been a while with my injury and stuff so I’m happy with the goals and I’m happy with the win today as well. It was a must-win match here at home, and it was an amazing night.

“It was great to celebrate in front of the supporters. I have been out for a while with my rehab and I did everything I could to come back stronger. Scoring today and getting the win feels brilliant.”

Describing his brace, the 29-year-old explained how he converted each chance to help lift the Hornets to fifth in the second-tier standings.

He said: “[Davis] had a shot on target with the goalkeeper and I was there. It was right on my foot and I smashed it into the goal. It was an easy one so I’m happy to have scored!

“For sure, my second goal was on target! A bit of luck I guess but you need to have it in football so it was good.”

Sema also understands how important the win could be, as Watford head towards another significant encounter against Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon (February 25, 3pm KO).

He addded: “It will be a very important win. A win at home is really important for our confidence as well, against a strong team. We know Saturday will be another hard test, but we’re feeling good and I’m looking forward to getting back out there.”
