The Golden Girls are on the hunt for a place in the FA Women’s National League Cup final as they face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last four this Sunday (March 5, 2pm KO).

Securing their spot in the semi-finals with a convincing 5-1 win against MK Dons at the end of January, the Hornets will be looking to show a reaction after last weekend’s trip to Suffolk ended in a narrow defeat at the hands of Ipswich Town in the league.

That defeat came at the end of a three-game week, where the side secured six of the nine possible points on offer, which included the standout result against Portsmouth as Damon Lathrope’s side blew the league leaders away.

Sunday’s match-up provides the first taste of the FA WNL Northern Premier Division at Grosvenor Vale this season. A tough match is in store with both sides at the top end of their tables, promising an entertaining game for those in attendance.

Wolves come into the game in a rich vein of form and are unbeaten in their last five outings. In that run, the visitors have scored 19 goals, conceding five along the way and dropping just two points.

Top goalscorer Jade Cross will prove to be one of many attacking threats, scoring five goals in as many games.

Sunday looks set to be a tight affair, with the potential of extra-time and penalties being needed to decide who will meet the winner of Portsmouth v Nottingham Forest - who meet in the other semi-final - for the chance to lift the cup.

With Helen Ward having announced she will retire from football at the end of the season in the lead up to the match, be sure to come down to Grosvenor Vale to support Ward and Watford in their quest to bring silverware to the club and sign off a legendary career in the best possible way.
