Teenage attacking duo Yáser Asprilla and Matheus Martins will miss Watford’s end-of-season clash against Stoke City on Bank Holiday Monday (May 8, 3pm KO), having been called up to represent their respective nations at the 2023 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Nineteen-year-old Asprilla - who has scored one goal in 39 appearances during his first season at the club - will look to spearhead Colombia’s progression from Group C, as they take on Israel (Sunday May 21, 7pm KO UK time), Japan (Wednesday May 24, 10pm KO UK time) and Senegal (Saturday May 27, 10pm KO UK time).

Having played his part in Brazil’s warm-up fixtures recently, Martins - also 19 - will now aid the five-time champions’ fortunes on the main stage in Group D, against Italy (Sunday May 21, 10pm KO UK time), the Dominican Republic (Wednesday May 24, 10pm KO UK time) and Nigeria (Saturday May 27, 7pm KO UK time).

The tournament begins with hosts Argentina taking on Uzbekistan on Saturday May 20 (10pm KO UK time), and runs until the final at the Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona in La Plata at 10pm UK time on Sunday June 11.
