James Morris was pleased to conclude the 2022/23 campaign with a 2-0 victory against Stoke City, with the left-back also marking the occasion by being presented with the club’s prestigious Young Player of the Season award.

The 21-year-old was a second-half substitute in the clash against the Potters, bearing witness to both goals, with the first coming moments after he stepped onto the pitch through Imrân Louza before Keinan Davis secured the points.

Having made his league debut for the club earlier in the season, and gradually established himself in the first-team squad, Morris is proud to have added another achievement to his list.

And after recently signing a new three-year deal at Vicarage Road, he is hoping to continue his development and progression in 2023/24.

Morris - who now has 12 Sky Bet Championship appearances to his name - said: “It’s been a long season, but that’s a lovely way to finish with a win and a clean sheet at home in front of the fans. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the season.

“[The Young Player of the Season award is] a massive achievement for me. It’s another proud moment. Obviously, you put in the work all season and to be awarded with something at the end of the season makes it all worthwhile. It’s a great honour to be the Young Player of the Season.

“It’s a good way to finish. To have them all here [fans] and get the win and the clean sheet - it rounds off the season. It’s not been the season we wanted, but hopefully we can push on next season and get back to where we belong.

“I’ll have a little break and relax now, but then it will be straight back to it, getting fit and ready for pre-season. I want to hit the ground running at the start of next season.”
