Watford FC Women are pleased to announce the appointment of Renée Hector as Development Team Head Coach, following the departure of Jo Williams after five seasons at the club.

Williams leaves the Golden Girls to pursue new opportunities having initially joined Watford in September 2018, taking up the Head Coach role after a spell as assistant.

Overseeing a successful period for the youth side including a 13-game unbeaten run, the club wishes Williams the best of luck for the future.

Former Hornets defender Hector becomes Head Coach having served as part of Williams’ staff during the 2022/23 campaign, as part of her coaching journey.

A serious injury suffered in 2020 meant Hector would start working towards her coaching badges, and the 27-year-old earned the UEFA B licence in January.

Hector began her playing career with Watford and made over 50 appearances, leaving for Tottenham Hotspur in 2016 and later turning out for Charlton Athletic before re-signing at Vicarage Road in 2020.

“We’d like to wish Jo the best of luck, and thank her for all she has done at the club,” said Interim General Manager Laura Dyer. “Jo took on the Development squad after I moved into the first-team set-up and made it her own in five successful years at Watford, and we appreciate all of her hard work and professionalism.

“We’re delighted to appoint Renée as Development Team Head Coach. It’s a great step for Renèe in her coaching career. She’s been a successful part of this club in her playing days, and her experience will inspire the next generation at Watford.”

Best of luck Jo and congratulations, Renée!
