Goalkeeper Jonathan Macaulay made his debut for England’s Under-18s during a memorable 3-2 win over Australia on Sunday (June 11).

The young Hornet had been an unused substitute in the Young Lions’ opening Lisbon International Tournament clash against Norway on Friday (June 9), with the match ending in a 2-2 draw.

In the second game of the competition, the 18-year-old shot-stopper lined up to face Australia in his maiden fixture, helping England to victory in an entertaining tussle.

The Young Lions took a two-goal lead in the first-half after Zach Marsh’s brace put England into the ascendency, but Australia’s Max Caputo and Marcus Younis levelled the score before Watford Academy teammate Adrian Blake scored a late winner.

In the final match of the tournament in Portugal, Macaulay was an unused substitute against the host nation during a 0-0 stalemate on Tuesday (June 13).

Elsewhere, Imrân Louza earnt another cap for Morocco against Cape Verde on Monday (June 12) in an international friendly.

During the 0-0 draw, Louza started the fixture in midfield before being substituted for Ilias Chair in the final 15 minutes.

The 23-year-old could be in line to feature against South Africa (Saturday June 17, 4pm KO UK time) in the penultimate match of Group K in the Africa Cup of Nations qualification stage. The Atlas Lions are currently top of the group with a faultless record.

Finally, Academy midfielder Dawid Hamiga featured for Poland’s Under-18 side (Tuesday June 13) against Slovenia.

Hamiga was a second-half substitute, playing the final half an hour during a 1-0 defeat.

He could also feature in Poland’s next fixture against Montenegro’s Under-18s this Saturday (June 17, 9.30am KO UK time).
