Goalscorers Tom Dele-Bashiru and Vakoun Bayo were delighted with Watford’s season-opening 4-0 win over QPR on Saturday (August 5), with Imrân Louza and Matheus Martins joining them on the scoresheet.

It was a good game, we stuck to our gameplan. We’ve been working hard in pre-season and the manager has come in and really changed the mentality here. We’ve got a good group ethic going on so to score so early was a great feeling.

We have our patterns of play and as I saw the ball going to Bayo I knew he was going to set Imrân, so I just made my run and Imrân’s got the quality so it was a good goal. It’s a great feeling, I’ve had a difficult time here with injuries so it’s a good feeling to score my first league goal.

It was good to get the goal and that lifted the team, and we had the confidence to score again and again. We scored four and we could’ve had more, to be fair.

We’ve learned really quickly. Pre-season was long and there was a lot of information to take in, but the boys have really bought into it and we’ve adapted well and as you can see, the patterns are coming out as well.

It [the atmosphere] was bouncing. The supporters, they’re always behind us. It’s been difficult in recent times but I think this season it’s a different feeling here and with them behind us it gives us the confidence to go out and play like that.

It gives us good momentum. We’ve shown that we can do it and play this style of play, so we just have to improve on it and keep going and hopefully get the win in midweek as well.

Bayo

I feel very good, happy to be back and to score because I’m hungry to show something and scoring is the best way to show something, so I’m very, very happy.

I saw Francisco [Sierralta], he got the ball in space, so I just followed him and he passed to me and I scored. I was very, very happy for him also. His position is new, but he did very well.

It’s really good [the new system] because everyone is doing very well so this system is good for us and we will keep pushing for the next game.

It’s really good to be back in our stadium, in front of our supporters, so thanks for the support and we go again.
