Bianca Baptiste is fully focused on providing ‘the push’ to get Watford back into the Barclays Women’s Championship following confirmation of her move to the Golden Girls.

The striker is no stranger to Watford, having faced the Hornets on several occasions over the years as a Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace player, impressing at Vicarage Road for the Eagles in a 2-2 draw last term.

Quickly settling in and meeting her new teammates, Baptiste is now excited to get started, with her sights firmly set on the top of the table.

“It feels amazing,” said Baptiste. “The atmosphere is amazing and the staff have made me feel welcome here. I couldn’t think of anywhere else I’d want to be.

“There are so many people here that have the ability to play football and progress and to push and win the league.

“The atmosphere was incredible here last season. It wasn’t the first time I’ve played here, and every time I’ve stepped out onto the pitch it’s been a great feeling.”

Experienced at National League level, Baptiste finished top goalscorer with Spurs in 2017, scoring 27 times in 34 games and winning promotion to the second tier. She became known at both Tottenham and Palace for her speed and creativity in attack, and hopes to provide opposition defenders with plenty of problems in the upcoming season.

“I’m a little bit erratic, I’m annoying to play against!” Baptiste joked.

“That [2017] was one of the best times of my life and it was an amazing feeling to finish top scorer. I hope this season I can bring the push - and score the goals - to get us promoted into the league we deserve to be in.”

Whilst ambitious, Baptiste is aware of the challenge the Hornets face in the National League, but believes Watford can achieve great things in 2022/23.

She added: “We’ve got teams we’re coming up against that could give us a bit of a shock, but as long as we’re ready, we’ll give them a run for their money!”
