Stevenage-born Keinan Davis is back in his home county having sealed a loan move from Aston Villa, and is excited to begin a new challenge with Watford in the Sky Bet Championship.

The striker explained that the ambition of the club, as well as rave reviews of Head Coach Rob Edwards from former colleagues, were two reasons for his transfer.

“I’m really happy,” Davis began. “I’m from Hertfordshire so I’m familiar with the surroundings. It’s good to be at a top club like Watford.

“Some people at my previous club know the gaffer here and they were saying he’s a really good guy. Watford speaks for itself, they should be in the Premier League so it didn’t take much to persuade me.”

A creative striker with the ability to provide for fellow attackers as well as score goals of his own, Davis netted five and assisted two in 15 games on loan at Nottingham Forest in the Championship last season, helping the Tricky Trees to promotion via the play-offs.

The Hornets’ newest recruit has spoken to Edwards in depth already and knows what is expected of him as a player.

“[Edwards] has seen me play and knows what I can bring to the team, so he’s telling me to do the same thing and hopefully it all gels together and I can start getting some games and goals under my belt,” said the forward.

“I bring good hold-up play, goals, I’m skilful, good at dribbling and effective at the top end of the pitch.”

Davis watched Friday night’s 1-0 win over Burnley from the Vicarage Road stands and felt the buzz immediately, saying he was itching to get on the pitch and help the team as soon as possible. The 24-year-old has high hopes for the season ahead, and seeks to replicate his previous successful second-tier campaigns at Forest and Villa.

“It was a really good win, against a top side in this league,” Davis said of Friday night's victory. “The stadium was very good and the fans too. Any game you watch you just want to be playing, and that was definitely the case on Friday!

“The lads did well, they've have had a tough start to the season with the teams they’ve played against and they haven’t lost, so it’s very good to see.

“I have two previous promotions, and hopefully I can get another one with Watford, get the opportunity to play in the Premier League, help the team stay there and keep building from there.”
