Welcome to Pathways Connect. For this episode Pastor Hamish talks about what praise posture looks like and why it matters.

Discussion Questions:

1. How do we maintain a heart of thankfulness towards God when our emotions or circumstances get the better of us?

• Remember the examples that Hamish used (Sunday worship and coming to work frustrated on a Monday).

• We want our connect group members to know that they can choose to praise God despite what they’re feeling.

• The leper who returned to thank Jesus is a great example of a thankful heart (Luke 17:11-19).

1. Read Psalm 63. How does this passage teach us what a posture of worship looks like?

• Get everyone to open their Bibles and read through the Psalm together. Someone could read it all aloud, or you could divide it up.

• What physical actions are depicted in David’s words?

• What does the emotive language tell you about the posture of David’s heart?

1. Share what needs to change in your physical posture or heart posture when it comes to praising God.

• Time to be challenged and get practical. Lead the discussion to be specific rather than vague and generic.

• As the leader, you may need to offer up a personal response yourself to get the ball rolling.

Prayer Points:

• Pray that we would receive a new passion for praising Jesus. • Pray for growth in our corporate expression of worship. • Pray that, like the leper, we would recognise moments to thank Jesus this week.
