Transcript: ENG 111, Week 9 Overview During this unit, we have provided you with a wealth of resources and ideas regarding the choices, habits, behaviors, and characteristics of successful students. This week, we will review two final characteristics: a growth mindset and emotional intelligence. Do you demonstrate either of these characteristics? You’ll have to learn about them this week and find out! As a reminder, each of the resources assigned in this unit have been purposefully selected to help you think critically about and prepare effectively for your drafting of the Extended Definition Essay. Check your calendars, because that draft is due soon! If you haven't already started, you really need to begin drafting this week. At the start of this week, you will review how to write a thesis statement for an academic essay, but you will do so in more detail, building on what you learned about thesis statements in Week 6. You will also learn about the "quote sandwich" method of incorporating quotes from sources and how to cite those sources correctly in MLA, in-text citations. Doesn’t that sound fun!
