Welcome to Week 7 everyone. 

This week we will begin with two softchalk lessons. The first will introduce you to and provide you with some basic rules regarding the use of tone and style in academic essays. This is an important lesson, folks, especially as you begin drafting your first, standard essay assignment for English 111.

The second softchalk lesson will pick up where we left off with last week’s videos and focus on two additional characteristics of successful students. This lesson is directly associated with your first graded activity due this week, a short writing assignment. Start early on this one, as it will provide you a valuable practice opportunity to compose an academic paragraph that you might later be able to revise and strengthen for use in your extended-definition, essay assignment.

Our grammar assignments in LaunchPad this week will help you learn how to use pronouns correctly; and, finally, our assigned readings and critical reading activity will not only expand your understanding of the concepts covered in our early softchalk lessons but also prepare you for this week’s discussion.
