Countertenor John Holiday has been on a roll during this season of NBC’s The Voice. If this is your first time hearing his talent, why not check out this 2019 interview, as well as his previous visits to The Greene Space.

In January, WQXR’s James Bennett, sat down with opera singer John Holiday to talk about the relationship of black America with opera. Holiday explains how he personally navigated this space, how the stories of opera might seem far away from today’s realities (yet still convey meaning), the chamber opera We Shall Not Be Moved which premiered at Opera Philadelphia in 2017, and the importance of storytelling and all voices being heard.

We Shall Not Be Moved is available for streaming on the Opera Philadelphia's website till the end of August.
