Cybersecurity continues to be a major threat to South Africa’s critical information infrastructure and experts are warning that the government needs to beef up our National Cyber Command in order to protect ourselves against the rapidly growing number of cyber threats globally.
Cybercrime Magazine reports that the cost of Cybercrime is becoming significantly more than that caused by natural disasters and cyber crime will become more profitable than the trade of all major illegal drugs by 2025.
Corporate companies and private individuals are not exempt from this threat, a recent study found that South Africa came out 6th in the world in terms of the prevalence of cyber crime, with another study highlighting that internet users in the country lack technical alertness and experience.
