Dexter Filkins is one of many reporters who's noticed a trend in recent years: he's been having trouble getting politicians to call him back. This year, Filkins spent two and a half months working on a profile of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for The New Yorker, which published in July. Throughout the reporting process, the rising Republican star dodged Filkins' requests for an interview. Filkins says it's the job of journalists to push through political noise and get information to the public –even when politicians won't participate. OTM Correspondent Micah Loewinger speaks with Filkins to hear what he learned about DeSantis and where the press' relationship with politicians went wrong.
