- Ruling out sexual assault, an autopsy finds 'no injuries to the private parts' of the Delhi woman who was dragged for 13 kilometres by a car in the early hours of January 1. The report of the autopsy, done by a board of doctors at Maulana Azad Medical College, has been submitted to the police today. For further tests, swab samples and shreds of her jeans have been preserved. 2. A 19-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her distant cousin at her college in Karnataka's Bengaluru. Layasmitha was stabbed multiple times by Pawan Kalyan in the corridor of Presidency College where she was studying BTech. Pawan Kalyan, a BCA student at Nrupathunga University in Bengaluru, was Layasmitha's distant cousin and they knew each other well, say officials. 3. Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra enters Uttar Pradesh. Amarjit Singh Dulat, former Chief of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and former special director of the Indian Intelligence Bureau, joins Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra in the Uttar Pradesh leg of the Yatra. Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also joins Bharat Jodo Yatra with Rahul Gandhi in Seelampur. The yatra covered some parts of Delhi, among them, areas affected by riots in 2020, before it halted at Loni in UP's Ghaziabad district. 4. The ruling BJP is set to amp up its campaign for re-election in 2024 with a nationwide tour by Union Home Minister Amit Shah that will also touch states voting this year. As part of an exercise called the 'Lok Sabha Prawas' to visit parliamentary constituencies, Amit Shah is expected to travel to 11 states in January, say sources. The campaign will begin with the northeastern states of Tripura, Nagaland and Manipur on 5th and 6th January. 5. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who made a veiled attack on Pakistan terming it as 'epicentre of terrorism', in an interview to a popular Austrian TV show says that he could have used much harsher words for India's neighbour for its role in promoting cross-border terrorism even as he criticises Europe for not 'condemning the practices that have been going on for multiple decades'.
