After many years of sending its people off across the world in search of greener pastures, Taiwan has itself become a magnate for people looking for a better life. In the past few decades, a mix of migrant workers and permanent immigrants ready to put down roots has started to arrive on Taiwan’s shores. These new arrivals come mainly from the nearby countries of Southeast Asia, and one of the biggest new communities to arrive comes from Vietnam. Nguyen Thu Dinh is one of those Vietnamese people who has decided to stay and start a new life here. She joins us today to tell us how her connection with Taiwan started, and how recent years have seen the Vietnamese community here move from struggle to success.
