I mentioned the other day that I was having trouble building Electric Drummer after many months of being focused on FeedLand. Problem solved. My written build instructions were missing a step. I couldn't move on until I solved this problem. Electric Drummer is essential software for my daily work. I do all my for-work writing here. That's a very basic thing, and something I might take on, starting from scratch with an online world that assumes the writers are always able to write in their favorite apps. If an online system can't accomodate this, we don't write for them. I think this would gain traction quickly, most writers already know how broken the web is for writing and I think would immediately want to use a system that was built on the idea of unbreaking it, even if it meant not being able to write for other environments. If I do this, I'll immediately lobby my friends at Automattic to support it, so I expect/hope that Tumblr and WordPress would be among the first to be on board with what amounts to an iteration on the old blogging APIs. Nothing more than that.
