Take a journey with Adriana Carrillo into the magical world of education. As educators, we are always evolving as we continue on our journey as educators of little wizards. Join me and some special guests as we talk everything education, personalized learning and life as an educator.
In this final episode of season 2 we are going to look how we can continue our magical journeys as life-long learners or what I like to call the Dumbledore Effect. Think of how much time Dumbledore spent at Hogwarts and all his wizardry adventures to learn to become an extraordinary wizard but what was so special about him was that he continued to learn and passed on his knowledge to all those that passed through Hogwarts. Educational wizards, our magical journeys can only continue and it is vital that we participate in anyway we can to learn for our little wizards. In this episode we are going to dig into building and continuing our professional learning communities and networks and how we can become leaders, coaches, and mentors that promote a personalized learning growth.

In this episode we are going to dig into those O.W.L.S, but these are a little different. These are our extraordinary Wonderous Learning Structures or better known as authentic and adaptive assessments. We will explore how we can prepare our little wizards to self-assess by looking at the differences between analytic and holistic rubrics as well as look at how a single-point self-assessment checklist can create wonderous experiences in a personalized classroom. This episode will also look at an example in the classroom that allows your little wizards to demonstrate their learning mastery of the standards and content in multiple ways. In the last part of this episode we will focus on three different types of assessment, diagnostic, formative and summative, and how they look in a personalized learning classroom.

Welcome back to the Educational Wizard’s Corner Podcast with Adriana Carrillo! Now it is time to get to the sorting hat ceremony and plan for your little wizard’s individualized path. In this episode we will explore the sorting hat affect, which means that your little wizards have so many different needs and wants that lead them down their own magical learning journeys. We will dig into how to co-plan and co-design a pathway, how to use the data to support the pathways, and how we can facilitate and coach our little wizards towards building independence and mastering the content.

I am very excited to get into episode 2 so make sure you have plenty of room in your trunks because today we are going to go shopping for all our Wizdary materials, strategies, and needs through flexible educational resources. This will lay the groundwork for your little wizards to find what best meets their needs and learning that goes beyond a textbook. In today’s episode we are going to investigate how flexible educational resources can support, be saved, be searched and be shared to provide that choice and voice that is needed in a personalized learning environment. We will also find ways to observe the effectiveness of educational resources in real-time and suggest or seek alternatives as needed.

In this episode we discussed the importance of expanded collaboration and how to build your personalized learning army. The four pillars of the Community Schools project are integrated student supports, expanded and enriched learning time and opportunities, active family and community engagement, and collaborative leadership and practices.
