What is originality?
The truth is, there is no such thing as an original idea in storytelling. Every story that exists is a derivative of stories, ideas, writing styles, or experiences the author is familiar with. Originality, then, is not creating a new story or a new character or a new idea. What makes a work ‘original’ is taking existing stories, ideas, and characters and combining them in new ways.
