I’ve also got information on the upcoming 45th annual Environmentalist of the year awards. I’ve reported on recent shows about PGE preparing to cut down mature native trees and riparian habitat in the American River Parkway near their power lines. Despite repeat requests for better information, documentation and coordination that work is now underway and is causing trail closures in the lower area of the Parkway around Discovery Park. Long term impacts to wildlife-habitat-environment are likely but groups will continue to pursue answers and improved protection.
