Hello, greeting card section.

Once again, you don’t exactly have what I need. Have your creators checked statistics on society lately? It’s not all Sleepless in Seattle out here.

As for romantic movies and mixtapes, I stumbled across this song titled, “Family” by TobyMac.

This isn’t a song you normally hear at their concerts, but it really hits home this Valentine’s Day.

I am constantly learning more about God’s love and how it is so necessary in our earthly relationships.

One comment I heard this week is definitely something to ponder…

Yes, we are to love our neighbor (one another) and we all know that is one of the most commonly quoted Bible verses.

However, before we can try to love others, we must first read and practice the greatest commandment just prior that verse:

Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, your soul, your mind, and your strength.

Mark 12:30

Are we showing real love to others if we aren’t first loving the Lord? With our whole heart, soul and mind? Putting His will before our own?

The overflow of loving the Lord is very different than the overflow of loving the world. I’ve experienced both and I’ve felt the difference. There’s no comparison.

In an understated example, it could be compared to drinking Dr. Thunder, which is flat and warm on a 95 degree day, instead of drinking a Dr. Pepper over ice. In the shade. By a pool.

Let’s not cheat ourselves by ignoring God’s Word – the whole book – and never truly experiencing the original love He made for us to give and to receive…in our own families and in the family of God.
