Prayer of Adoration

Great and Glorious God, we praise You this day as we bask in the glories of creation. We praise You surrounded by the glorious sights of Your handiwork and our hearts filled by Your Holy Spirit. We praise You as the One who is above all, yet is within all. We praise You as the One Who died, Yet is alive. We praise You as the Mysterious God, who Yet invites us to know You. We praise You, Father Son and Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever, Amen.

Prayer of Confession

To You our Forgiving Father, we must come to confess all those things that we have done wrong. For though we live in Your world, we do not always use it as we ought, but turn good things to bad uses, and treat one another as though we were not all equally beloved by You. We confess that we have sinned, those wrongful things which bring such sorrow to ourselves, to You, and the world. We come before You, mindful that we cannot undo what we have done. So we say, Lord God we are sorry. Knowing our sinfulness, to the uttermost secret, You pick us out of the pit of sin, dust us off and say, “Your Sins are Forgiven.” For this Lord God, is the gift of the Cross, the forgiveness of our sins by You. Our Lord died that we might be forgiven, and we praise You for being so loving and merciful unto us. Amen

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Lord our God, we thank You for all the gifts we have been given this day, and every day. We thank You for those things we can see smell touch and taste. We thank You too for those we cannot sense, yet are there, and those we can know, yet cannot often find the words for, including so many of Your most Holy gifts. We thank You that we may Know You, that we are brought through the times of our trials, and always to better things, even unto heaven. Amen

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven,

Hallowed be thy Name

Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be Done

On Earth As It Is in Heaven

Give us this day, Our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive them that trespass against us,

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from Evil,

For thine is the Kingdom,

The Power and the Glory,

Forever and Ever

Amen

World

Lord God we pray for the world around us. We pray especially this week for those who are living amidst the horrors of war, and in places where the wickednesses of mankind continue to be shown to the world in new ways. We pray for all those who live in fear of their governments, soldiers and police, especially remembering those in China and Hong Kong. We pray for those in lands recovering from war, in many parts of Africa and in Afghanistan. May they rebuild and see a peace that lasts. We ask that all those in want of the basic necessities may have their needs met, whatever they may be of, that worries of survival might end, that people might be free to make more than just existence of their lives.

Church Abroad

Holy Lord, we pray for the Church in lands abroad. We pray for those whose only possession is the gospel, and go about in the world happier than millionaires. We pray for those who face threats when they practise their religion, Lord, keep them safe and frustrate those who would do the devil’s work. We pray for all those who are bringing the word to new ears in lands abroad, especially those in countries where to evangelise for life is illegal, Lord, may every heart they come to be opened by them, that they will turn away from the cruelty this world encourages. We pray for all those congregations called Methodists, in lands across the world, may they flourish.

Home

Father God we pray for our own land. We know that You see all that happens, and We ask that You may move the hearts and minds of those in power to set to doing right with a will. We ask That they be guided to do good and find the ways to do it. We ask that all those tasked with turning the laws into actions be guided by Righteousness and not by things of this world. We pray too for all those who are in need of help in our own land, may they know where to go for aid. We remember especially those struggling in the second lockdown. We ask your Help and Guidance upon Her Majesty the Queen and all the Royal Family, May they know You as we do.

Church At Home

We pray Lord for the Church at Home. We pray for our Christian brothers and sisters in the circuit and especially for those who are taking up New Tasks For You with us all, may their service here be a blessing to us all, and fruitful for the people around us too. We pray for those Churches worrying for the future, may they be filled with the Holy Spirit to go forth and tell, and find willing ears to listen. We pray too for those worrying over buildings or other worldly things, Lord, keep their worries from distracting them from the wonders of You.

Father God we pray for those who are Ill. We pray for those who are faced with hospital stays and operations, may they come through safely. We pray for all those whose ailments need doctor’s appointments and pills, may they be helped by their medicines. We pray for those at home, recovering, may they be able to know progress and ask Your aid to cheer them. We pray too for all those doctors, nurses, chemists, porters and so forth who work for the aid of the sick. May they be see much success in their work and avoid error and exhaustion. We pray for those known to us as unwell, (especially…)

Locally

We pray for this community around us, for all those who are round about us

Those we know and care for, and those who are yet only familiar faces. We pray for them in their needs and wants. We ask that we may be a light to them so that they may come to know You. We pray that we may be seen to be worthy servants of Christ.

Ourselves

We pray Lord God for ourselves. You know us utterly, from the innermost thoughts of our hearts to our most public deeds. We ask that You strengthen us to do what we ought, whether we want to or not. We ask that our dearest desires may be worthy of fulfilment and that we shall see those things come to pass, and know it as Your Work.
