The Outer Banks are barrier islands off the coast of the US state of North Carolina, separating the Atlantic Ocean from the mainland. They are a 200 mile long sand bar that are constantly changing with storms and general tides that shift the sand. It’s home to some of the best waves on the East Coast and surfboard shaper Mike Rowe of Hooked Surfboards. In today’s show Mike discusses the unique circumstance of life on the OBX, raising a family, the undefinable value of riding locally made boards designed for local surf, and building boards for an ever constricting market segment. Enjoy!
