Highlands Park new kid on the block Mokete Mogaila has taken the Premier League by storm. Signed last year after the Varsity Cup where he finished as a top goal scorer with four goals from six matches, the pacey Mogaila is quickly establishing himself as one of the exciting wingers in the elite league. This past weekend the 23year-old scored his first goal in the Absa Premiership when Highlands came back from 1-0 down to beat log leaders Bidvest Wits 2-1 at Makhulong stadium. Mogaila, belongs to the latest group of Varsity footballers who are making their mark in the elite league. The third year Mathematical Sciences (Applied Mathematics) student at the University of Johannesburg says the Varsity Sports system had played a big role in him realizing his dream of turning professional. Highlands head coach Owen Da Gama has worked with one the fastest players in the history of the PSL, Tlou Segolela at Orlando Pirates but he says Mogaila who hails from Ga-Mashashane also from Limpopo just like Segolela is the fastest player in the PSL. The former Bafana Bafana assistant coach what completes the young lad is that, he’s got the brains too.
