Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman and SAFA Vice-President Irvin Khoza has recalled the days when Bafana Bafana faced the AK-47’s in Lome, Togo and the late Philemon “Chippa” Masinga came to the rescue once more as they beat Zaire (Democratic Republic of Congo) 2-1 in the penultimate FIFA 1998 World Cup qualifier. Khoza who used to travel with Bafana back in those days as the head of delegation remembered the crucial goals that Masinga scored in the 1998 World Cup qualifiers, leading to that special goal against Congo-Brazzaville at FNB stadium in 1997 taking the newly born rainbow nation to France. Speaking after Masinga’s memorial service in Soweto yesterday, Khoza says these are the important stories that South Africans need to hear.
