Bafana Bafana legend Helman Mkhalele paid tribute to the late Philemon Masinga who passed away yesterday at the age of 49. Masinga, who earned over 50 international caps, helped South Africa clinch the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations title and scored the famous goal that secured qualification to the 1998 World Cup. Masinga played locally for Jomo Cosmos, Mamelodi Sundowns and many teams abroad such as Leeds United in England and Bari in Italy. Mkhalele played with him at Cosmos and also in the national team.
