Bafana Bafana have wrapped up their preparations for the crunch 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Nigeria at the FNB stadium tomorrow afternoon (15:00). Three points for Bafana in tomorrow’s game will confirm their participation in the expanded 24 AFCON tournament in Cameroon next year. Whilst head coach Stuart Baxter says he can’t share his overall strategy, the main approach is not to let the opposition dictate terms and that they are going all out for a win tomorrow. This is going to be game no.14 between the nations since 1992, Bafana have won only two, drawn four and lost seven against the Super Eagles. Baxter is expected to line-up with some solid combinations with only one change at the back, three in the midfield and keep the potent attack of Lebohang Mothiba and Percy Tau. Bafana registered their first and only win against Nigeria in a competitive game in the opening match of these qualifiers in Uyo last year and everybody in the opposite camp from head coach, players, media, officials and fans has been talking about revenge, and Baxter shared his response. One of the main stories to come out of Nigeria this week has been the promise by the Governor of Delta Estate Ifeanyi Okowa to the Super Eagles players that he will fork out $25 000 (R360 000) for each goal scored against Bafana. It’s not something that has shaken Baxter’s camp as they focused on the points and not the money.
