South African Football Association (SAFA) Vice President Ria Ledwaba says the Association is hard at work to resolve matters between them and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). South African fans experienced a national team black out on all SABC Radio stations and Television when the Senior National Team thrashed Seychelles 6-0 in a 2019 AFCON qualifier a fortnight ago. This follows a breakdown in negotiations for a new contract for broadcast rights of Bafana Bafana matches. Ledwaba says SAFA President Danny Jordan is looking into other options to try and resolve the matter. Meanwhile the ruling party African National Congress (ANC) last week called for the stand-off to end between SAFA and the SABC for the benefit of the public. SAFA has rejected a R10m offer from the national broadcaster and want R110m annually for the broadcast rights. The ANC says South African needs to watch the national team on public broadcaster platforms. Asked how the Association plans to respond to this call, Ledwaba again trusted in Jordan’s competence saying he has dealt with these issues during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
