For the first time a Kaizer Chiefs senior player has shed light on why Steve Komphela failed to deliver at Amakhosi. The Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune was clear this past weekend after the club won the Maize Cup pre-season tournament in Klerksdorp that they struggled to understand Komphela’s philosophy and plan for the team. Komphela resigned from Chiefs in April this year after going three seasons without some silverware, a first for an Amakhosi coach. Chiefs announced Italian born coach Giovanni Solinas to replace Komphela on Friday and Khune is hoping that they will quickly forget about the Bloemfontein Celtic head coach’s era.
