Mamelodi Sundowns fans’ hopes of seeing their team returning to its spiritual home ground HM Pitjie stadium in Mamelodi will have to be out on ice for now. The Gauteng MEC of Sport Faith Mazibuko confirmed yesterday after presenting her Budget Speech for 2018/2019 that their hopes of resolving the HM Pitjie stadium constriction challenge is hitting a brick wall. Mazibuko revealed that they need R240 million just to demolish the grand stand which was built by a construction company as part of the 2010 World Cup legacy projects.
