Benni McCarthy began his first stint as a head coach this week as Cape Town City returned to pre-season training ahead of the 2017/18 PSL season. McCarthy, who replaced Eric Tinkler in the role, says he has really been surprised at the quality on show at training, and the team have returned to training guns-blazing, and he’s been delighted with their application so early on in pre-season. The Bafana Bafana record goalscorer says he has been really impressed by the players, and the respect he’s received from them. He says they’re a great bunch of guys who work hard at every training and it’s a great environment to work in.
