Bafana Bafana’s squad for the COSAFA Castle Cup was exposed Sunday as just a selection of benchwarmers who will not offer the senior team anything going forward. Head coach Stuart Baxter revealed last week that about 15 players he had targeted to select, their clubs refused to release them. Baxter ended up going for some Supersport United players like Boalefa Pule, Mario Booysen and Cole Alexander who weren’t getting game time at the club. History will record that a 65th ranked South Africa lost to a 139th ranked Tanzania but Baxter pleaded for the players to be protected against the backlash. Bafana play Botswana in the plate semi-final today at Moruleng stadium, players like Nduduzo Sibiya, Tercious Malepe and Sibongakonke Mbatha didn’t get a run. And Baxter says the losers’ section is the perfect platform to give them game time.
