The Premier Soccer League promotion play-offs have gotten South Africans talking about whether the current system should be re looked and or changed. On social media one of the suggestions football fans believe should apply is to have the two top teams in the National First Division get automatic promotion while the two bottom sides in top flight should swop places with their promotional league counterparts. Others have suggested that top two teams go up straight then have third and fourth compete with the side that finishes 15th in the premier division. This view is shared by Black Leopards head coach Jean Francois Luscuito. Just on Saturday Baroka FC who ended the 2016/17 Absa premiership campaign in 15th place eliminated Leopards and Stellenbosch FC both NFD sides in the playoffs to guarantee another season in topflight. Bakgaga chairman Khurishi Mphahlele feels it’s a double edged sword.
