With the new Bafana Bafana coach set to be named next week, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he does not mind who gets appointed, but that he is been disappointed by statements saying that no local coach is good enough for the job. Mosimane was coach of Bafana from after the 2010 World Cup until mid-2012, and says that he feels a coach like Gavin Hunt has proven his worth, and would be great for the job. Mosimane says he was disappointed by the comments from Lucas Radebe in a daily paper that no local is good enough for the job, especially considering the recent success he has had with Sundowns. Mosimane says that he feels insulted personally by statements like this, and while he says he’s not interested in the job, he believes a coach like Hunt would be able to do the job well. Mosimane says that being Bafana coach is a tough job, especially for a local, and you need to be more than just a tactician. The CAF African coach of the year says fans often don’t give a local coach the same grace period that they do for a foreign coach .
