Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela has pleaded with the club’s demanding and hard to please fans to give newly signed striker Gustavo Paez time to adapt. Komphela was speaking after Paez was unveiled to the media at the club’s base in Naturena this morning. The former Venezuelan junior international is expected to be available for selection next week when Chiefs play their first game of the year against Free State Stars at FNB stadium on Tuesday. He is clear that Paez is not the answer to Chiefs’ well-documented scoring problems. Paez comes to a club that used six strikers in the first round namely, Bernard Parker (2), Mitchell Kaitsvairo (1), Lewis Macha, Emmanuel Letlotlo, Edward Manqele and Ryan Moon who only scored three goals between themselves. Komphela has more no he will try to shield him away from feeling the pressure. As it is always the case, Chiefs was linked to so many players in this mid-season transfer market but they only settled on one striker which is Paez. They have also welcomed back Togolese striker Camaldine Abraw who missed the first round of the season due to an injury and was re-registered last month. Komphela says he was desperate to solve the situation upfront.
