Less than 12 hours after they finished their tightly contested and successful MTN 8 second leg semi-final against Chippa United Wednesday night, Mamelodi Sundowns were back at their training ground at the club’s base in Chloorkop Yesterday the 22nd of September. Head coach Pitso Mosimane has termed this period where the club is faced with a jam-packed programme, “Against All Odds”, they will conquer. Sundowns face Zambian giants Zesco United in the African Champions League semi-final second leg encounter at Lucas Moripe stadium on Saturday at 7pm, trailing 2-1 from the first leg. This would be their sixth game in 14 days and Mosimane says they have to soldier on. One of the challenges is that Sundowns find themselves with a thin squad as some of the registered players for CAF Champions League have moved to other teams. And their newly signed players are not eligible because they are not registered or they’re cup tied. This past weekend, they travelled to Ndola with only 17 players but Mosimane says they are not complaining. Good news for the Brazilians fans is that just their Absa Premiership fixture next Wednesday against Bloemfontein Celtic has been postponed ahead of the Wafa-Wafa final against Bidvest Wits on the first of next month. Wits were set to play Ajax Cape Town and that game has also been postponed, Mosimane is going to this final with a cautious approach. Sundowns also has a proud home record here at home in CAF competitions, they’ve won all their home games but they’ve conceded too, something that they need to avoid on Saturday night.
