The former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker says that he will not be surprised if Pitso Mosimane is given a second chance to lead the national team. The current Mamelodi Sundowns coach, coached South Africa from 2010 to 2012, failing to lead the team to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. But he has since re-established himself as one of the best in the country with the Brazilians. Under Mosimane’s leadership, the Chloorkop outfit have won two Absa Premiership titles, the Telkom Knockout and the Nedbank Cup. All his accolades have impressed Barker. Barker feels that Mosimane is rebuilding his reputation excellently at club level. Apart from domestic success, Sundowns are on the brink of reaching the CAF Champions League semi-finals. They claimed a famous 2-1 win over Egyptian giants Zamalek in Cairo Sunday the 17th of July and will be looking to win the continental spectacle for the first time and he believes that such a feat will be the cherry on the top for Mosimane and really put his name back on the coaching map. South Africa’s next assignment is to try and reach the 2018 World Cup, with that qualification campaign set to begin in October. But must negotiate a tough group, which also includes Senegal, Burkina Faso and the Cape Verde Islands Barker concedes that Bafana Bafana will find it tough to qualify.
