The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Authorities has imposed a hefty $20, 000.00 (approximately R309 000) fine on Chad and banned them from participating in the next edition of the Afcon qualifiers. According to CAF, Chad had breached Article 59 of the rules and regulations of the Afcon competition. Chad, who had played two of the Gabon 2017 Afcon qualifiers against Nigeria and Egypt, and lost both games, dropped a bombshell by withdrawing from the event half way mark. Chad’s withdrawal puts the Afcon qualifiers in disrepute. It also places Group G in turmoil as both Nigeria and Egypt have had their points deducted.
