At 52nd globally and 12th in Africa, Bafana Bafana are coming into tonight’s African Nations Cup tournament opening match against Algeria as the lowest ranked team in their group, way behind fellow Group C teams. Algeria are ranked 18th internationally and number one in the continent, with other two teams in the group Ghana and Senegal sitting in the continent’s top five. But rankings count for little in the AFCON and many people around Mongomo, from media covering this tournament to other experts believe that Bafana is going to surprise teams.
