Kaizer Chiefs could be facing a crisis of looking for a new coach just three weeks before the new 2014/2015 season gets underway. This follows reports that their current coach Stuart Baxter has been negotiating with SAFA for the vacant Technical Director job. The expectation is that the Scottish born coach would be unveiled together with a new Bafana Bafana coach next week when SAFA President Danny Jordaan returns from the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. But it’s not going to be that easy for Baxter to leave Chiefs. SABC Sport has learnt that Baxter is not entirely happy at Chiefs and is also concerned about their transfer market activity, which is yet to address the areas he needed to be covered. But with only few weeks to go to the new season, Baxter’s departure could throw Chiefs plans into disarray, as there’s not enough time to find a suitable candidate for the job. Baxter has also said that he’s aware of the SAFA approach but is concentrating on his Chiefs job now. But for how long time will tell as the SAFA Technical Director role is awaiting him. And Baxter was awaited to make a decision by Friday but he’s contracted to Chiefs for the next two years.
During the launch of the home and away jerseys today, Motaung also revealed that they would soon be opening Amakhosi’s museum at the Naturena Village, which forms part of the major project the club has embarked on. Together with the club’s technical sponsors Nike, Motaung says the big container with the audio and visual history of Chiefs dating back to it’s formation in 1970 will be open to the fans for viewing…
Already this season Chiefs has promoted three players from their development academy and it’s expected that the development players will soon be going back to training in Naturena, as their training grounds are almost complete. Arguably the biggest team in South Africa in terms of supporters, almost every season Chiefs is blamed by it’s supporters of not spending enough on buying quality players. This is in comparison to the expensively assembled Mamelodi Sundowns, which stole the Absa Premiership title from Chiefs last season and left their trophy cabinet empty.
