Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has refused to divulge their targets for the 2014 FIFA World Cup that kicks off in Brazil. Speaking after their arrival in Sao Paulo from their training camp in USA, Keshi says his boys are fully prepared for the big spectacle and ready to rumble with tournament favourites Argentina, Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group F. The Super Eagles last won a game in the World Cup finals in France in 1998, in 2002 and 2010 they exited in the group stages having failed to register a single win.

The Super Eagles open their World Cup campaign against Iran in Curitiba on Monday. Asked if this is a dream come true for him to coach in the World Cup, Keshi says he’s had two opportunities before to do this and was denied by football bosses in Nigeria and Togo respectively…

Nigeria have failed to win any of their last three warm-up matches coming to this tournament and even suffered a crucial injury to one of their key players Elderson Echieleji. Keshi says the time was not enough to prepare but they are ready for the tournament…

Meanwhile this could be the last saloon for the golden generation of Cote D’Ivoire to stand up and be counted by making their mark in a major tournament. Despite all the hype, the likes of Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure and Didier Zokora have nothing to show for their star studded team in all these years. Most of the Elephants’s big guns are likely to retire from international football very soon and Liverpool centre-back Kolo Toure who has been part of the national team set-up for the past 14 years is looking forward to the tournament…
