The 2013/14 PSL awards nominees were announced at the PSL headquarters in Parktown this morning and most notably outstanding is Bidvest Wits skipper, Sibusiso Vilakazi who has been nominated in three categories, namely Footballer of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament. General Manager for the PSL, Derek Blanckensee says this year they have had to change the criteria on how to come up with the final nominees….
PSL Judging panel convenor and football analyst Farouk Khan gave more on how the process unfolded in coming up with the final nominees…
Khan further asserted that some players may have performed at various stages of the league and yet some may have also performed consistently throughout the season and such factors had to be taken into consideration…
The PSL awards are set to take place in just over a week’s time (18 May 2014) at the Sandton Convention Centre and they are expected to cap a turbulent season that saw so many breaks during the season due to many factors. Blanckensee conceded that this was indeed a challenging season but they have successfully managed to ride the wave
Meanwhile the PSL also conducted a draw for the promotional play-off that will see the 15 the placed ABSA premiership team come up against the National First Division’s second placed and third placed sides which are yet to be determined this coming weekend.
