Scientists reported in November of 1989 that a satellite that was supposed to help them answer questions about how the universe got here gave them no answers at all. The satellite, called the Cosmic Background Explorer, worked fine. Scientists just didn't find the evidences they expected to support their explanation of how the Big Bang could have produced the present universe.
