Murf and Jennifer Reeves, from the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) welcome back David Silverstein to the show. David is the Founder and CEO of Lean Methods Group, a global management consulting firm (changing the way business leaders think for decades). He has also founded BrokenHealthcare.org, a not-for-profit organization fighting to change the healthcare system through forced price transparency.

David believes that price transparency won’t fix everything that is wrong with the American healthcare system, but nothing can be fixed without it. BrokenHealthcare.org sheds light on predatory pricing and unfair billing practices and providing support for those currently affected, in an effort to motivate policy makers to make changes.

In today’s show, David shares valuable information and insight on:

  • Why the healthcare system is not functioning effectively for the needs of Americans.
  • Examples of how hospitals across the country have been suing patients and employees.
  • How the healthcare industry is making more profit than they should (i.e., record earnings) even though Americans are not getting “better”.
  • How vulnerable we are as consumers to predatory pricing and unfair billing practices
  • Who sets the prices for products and services provided by healthcare providers (i.e., hospitals, medical treatment facilities, etc.).
  • Why hospitals and doctors are not on the same page (i.e., we don’t have choice in hospitals versus our choice in an ongoing relationship with a family doctor).
  • What role Congress plays in the current situation and the future of Healthcare.
  • Medicare’s role in helping to offset the costs of healthcare services.
  • What’s next for Broken Healthcare.
  • Understanding ones rights when signing for consent to treatment
