Dancehall is a direct reflection of Jamaica’s society and its beliefs it frequently stands directly against the music from of reggae in the 1970s.

Today dancehall music is one of the most popular genres of music across the world, however, the lyrics of many songs that fall in this genre tend to be considered by some as vulgar, offensive, violent ,sexist ,degrading and in most cases controversial, while to other it is uplifting ,fun and a true representation of Jamaica. It directly and indirectly affects the way we think, socialize and even our fashion choices.
