North Texas is under an excessive heat warning through 8 p.m. on Tuesday. The National Weather Service anticipates the heat index (or "feels like") temperature to top 110 degrees!
National Weather Service, Fort Worth, Senior Meteorologist Eric Martello says he's only seen this kind of heat/humidity combo a few times in his 30 years.

"Even though the temperatures themselves are fairly normal for this time of year," Martello says. "It's this near-record humidity that we've only seen probably three, four orĀ five times in the last 50 to 60 years that's causing the problem."

So Martello encourages Texans to drink plenty of water, limit time outdoors, get in the shade, and wear light-colored, breathable clothing.
