The Stormers suffered two massive injury blows in their final pre-season friendly against the Lions at the Newlands rugby stadium in Cape Town yesterday. Liolin Zas had to be stretchered off the field after he broke his leg, while Juan de Jongh was also seen walking around on crutches after the match. The Stormers put on an impressive display of running rugby against last year's runners up and beat the Lions at their own game as they won the encounter 57-40. Fleck says Zas could be out long term if scans confirm that he did break his leg, while De Jongh could be out for six weeks. In the first half of the friendly the Stormers scored three impressive tries thanks to good off loads and skilful ball handling. The Stormers management have been working hard on the skill level of the players during the off-season and it came across in their performance yesterday. Fleck says he is happy with the type of rugby his team played. The Stormers will face the Bulls in their first game of the Super Rugby season in two weeks time. Fleck didn't want to give away too many secrets and wasn't willing to confirm whether they would play a similar type of game against the ol' foes, but says the plan is for the team to continue playing exciting rugby. The Stormers also revealed that Joe Petersen has been training with them and that he will be available to play for them if the need arises. Petersen will return to Japan later this year, but for now has joined the Stormers where he will look to guide some of the younger players in the squad.
