Springbok coach Allister Coetzee says he is looking for marked improvements and his players pushing the boundaries during the week long training the squad are having in Johannesburg this week. Coetzee believes that they went through a lot of work last week in Stellenbosch and were able to assess players even though he didn’t have all of his squad members available to him. The 53 year old coach also revealed that the nine Lions players in the squad will join the side on Thursday the 11th of August and the overseas based players and those with the Sevens side at the Rio Olympics will assemble on Sunday. Coetzee says travelling will pose a big challenge for his side in the upcoming Castle Lager Rugby Championship especially with their return match in Argentina and then having to fly to Australia and he cited the need for combinations to be settled in the side for there to be any meaningful improvements in the way in which the Springboks play and that they have to start matches better than they did against Ireland. Building scoreboard pressure will also be another area of the game that Coetzee is hoping will improve during the Rugby Championship as the Springboks struggled to score points in the first half of their three Tests against Ireland in June.
